With a recent interest in dividend paying stocks combined with having been around real estate for most of my life, I have decided to look into the Canadian REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) scene.
First, I will endeavor to create various lists to see how the REITs compare to each other. As I learn more, I will begin to add commentary.
As of January 2018 I find that there are 38 REITs currently trading on the TSX. One of them, Lanesborough, is still listed, but is trading at $.02 as a result of problems encountered with its properties in Fort MacMurray, Alberta, and is not currently making distribution payments. That leaves a total of then 37 REITs actively paying distrubitions.
